Once
upon a time there was a little girl, her name was Mai. She
was a fun little girl. She liked to explore the world. Her
hair was cut in a cute little bob. Her favorite grandmother
bought her a twirly dress.
When Mai saw that twirly dress she didn't really know what
it was all about, but her grandmother explained that this
twirly dress was special. Mai put it on, partly because she
loved her grandmother, and partly because the dress was pink.
Her grandmother told her that if she spun around very quickly
on one spot, that dress would swirl and spin and fly out.
Mai tried it, and sure enough, when she turned around very
quickly one one foot, even on the heel of the foot or the
toe of the other foot, that dress would fly out and make a
gorgeous flairy circle out in the air.
Mai thought that that was very exciting, especially because
when she ran around playing, or went shopping with her mom
the dress would act like a normal dress acts. It had a place
for her head to go, and it had places to put her arms, it
settled nicely around her waist and from there it draped down
to almost her knees. But every time she spun- that dress would
fly out. Mai liked it! She had this dress that could do this
special thing! And that dress would only do that special thing
when Mai told it to. Mai was really really happy and grew
very confident playing in her twirly dress.
Well Mai's mom... for a while she was happy with that dress
to, but then when the dress would get dirty, and Mai's mom
wanted to put it in the washing machine, Mai would complain
because she wanted to wear that dress, and she didn't really
like her other dresses anymore. Her mom had to pull that dress
out of the washing machine, put it in the dryer, and run the
dryer cycle before Mai got dressed in the morning to go to
preschool. So after a while Mai's mom bought another twirly
dress. This one was purple, and it had butterflies. When Mai's
grandmother heard about this she laughed, and she bought Mai
another twirly dress. This one was a lovely Apricot color
and it had green ferns and big fuschia flowers on it.
Mai was really happy about the whole affair, and everyday
the question was shall we wear the original pink twirly dress,
shall we wear the apricot twirly dress with the
big fuschia
flowers, or shall we wear the butterfly purple twirly dress.
That is everything Mai wore that summer. It was a very easy
summer for Mai's mom, and she really was impressed with how
well the dresses held. They did not shrink, fade, or fall
apart- at all. She was also impresses with how easy it was
to get Mai dresses in the morning.
Mai loved her twirly dresses, and Mai's little girlfriends
from preschool loved her twirly dresses also, so they had
to get a few. Sharon got a polka dot one, and little Anette
got a twirly skirt, with a frilly tee to go with it.
I could say that they all twirled happily ever after, but
that's not really true because at some point they became preteens.
But you know what? That is a story for another website.
